Lydia Anabor's life was one full of peace and adventure growing up side by side with her father. The only thing that really bugged her was the constant, repetitive dream she's had ever since the day she turned 18. She tried to ignore it early on and act like the constant reminder of a dream she didn't understand didn't bother her, like the hours of research it caused her weren't that valuable. She told herself to just not think about it. To just accept it as something that she wasn't going to understand. Except the day that her dream finally changed brought her face to face with a wolf. A wolf that brought her a day full of aggravation, confusion, and a strange feeling she couldn't quite explain. ~~~ "Okay. So what, you're like a dog... person... wolf thing?" He bit his lower lip in what looked like an attempt to stop a laugh. "Sure. But personally we call ourselves werewolves." "Were...wolves?" Another nod. "Yup, and judging by you're reaction to all of this, I take it that you're unaware of the fact that you're one as well." My eyes bulged. "I've never even seen a wolf until today. I think I'd know if I was part wolf." I countered. "I'd think so as well, but we can figure that out later I'm just happy that I found you." "Why?" His lips quirked up. "Because Lydia, you and I are mates, and I've been looking for you for a very long time," he said, with a grin that showed off his ridiculously sharp canines. My body seemed to shiver at the very word itself, despite my confusion that just seemed to keep growing. "Mates? Like buds? Friends? Chummy chum pals?" I think my desperation for some common sense was becoming a little too evident. His smooth chuckle filled the room. "Not quite." Is all he said "Then what?" I was surprised to see him actually reach a hand through the bars towards me. "Come here and let me show you."

Highest in Werewolf: #2 "Selene, my daughter, please hear us out. I know we don't deserve it, but your sister is pregnant and-" I held up my hand to stop the man named Benicio Dixon from speaking. Surely they didn't call me here just so they can dump all their personal problems onto me or dig up the past. If that was the case, they're quite foolish. I'm not interested in the slightest. Shifting my attention from my father to the woman he stood behind, my gaze narrowed on the small but visible bump under her sundress. Hestia Anne Dixon. My younger sister. The Luna of my old pack and the woman my mate chose over me. She was pregnant. I turned to the male sitting beside her in the Alpha's seat. Guilt and regret crossing his striking features when he refused to meet me in the eye. "If the reason you called me here is because of this nonsense" I gestured between my sister and mate, "Then it would appear I wasted my time. With all due respect, Beta Dixon, I am an Alpha. I have many and much more important things to do than discuss petty mate bonds. If It wasn't obvious enough, I'll make myself clear-" I stood up, not caring for the gazes burning into my skin. "Whether or not she has this pup has nothing to do with me. Luna Walker's mate has nothing to do with me. In fact, none of you have anything to do with me outside of pack business. If you're worried about my interference-- don't. I won't say nor do anything. To put it simply, I don't want him. I didn't want him for the past four years since he rejected me and you all left me to die. Rest assured that seeing him again won't change anything. Now if you'll excuse me, I have things to attend to." I held my head high, walking off with my Beta trailing behind me. Just as I reached the door, it abruptly pulled open and I came face to face with the most beautiful man I've ever seen in my life. Dark, crystal grey eyes bore into me and I found myself go still. "Do you know what metal this knife is made of?" My breaths were coming out in ragged wheezes, sounding garbled as my windpipe fought around the blood in my mouth. "No, sir." "It's silver." Another round of tears sprung loose from my eyes, and my hands curled into fists. How could I be so stupid? I could hear the smile in his voice, "Do you know what I am going to use this knife for, girl?" When I tried to speak, all that came out was a strained sob. A round of laughter erupted from the table, the council reveling in my torture. "I'm sorry, pet, I couldn't hear you," Alpha unhooked the back of my dress, exposing his canvas. A tremor racked my body, nearly seizing my vocal cords, "For carving into my body, sir." "Correct." +++ Copyright© to -hickman

In the kingdom of Vanderdash, there is no more feared warriors than that of the Scarlet Guard. Protectors of the royal family, skilled assassins trained since childhood, They follow the crown, they enforce the crown. But within the guard there is only one who installed that very same feeling into the rest. Head of the prince's royal guard, ruthless and cunning, rarely seen by the citizens themselves. They call her Red. An expert in poisons and deception, the small girl has brought armies to their knees without once lifting a blade. A vermillion haired monster hidden behind the face of a doll. ~~ I smiled up at the men, "Would you like a cookie?" They peered into the basket I held out, spotting the heart shaped treats. "They're cinnamon with apple Jam. I do promise they are to die for." The taller mans eyes narrowed, "did you give the poor fool dead on the road a cookie?" My lips parted, "a dead man? Oh my..do you think it is safe?" "..depends on who you are miss, why did you say you were in the woods again?" I smiled gently, "I didn't." He rose a brow. "I'm delivering these," I shook the basket a bit, "to my dearest grandmama." He hesitated for only a slight second, "oh. well. be careful then. These woods can be dangerous." I nodded once still holding out the basket, "so would you?" "Would we what?" I giggle a bit, "like a cookie silly." "Ah.." he scratched the back of his head, "sorry, I'm not too fond of apples." Damn it. I sighed softly, "strawberry next time then." "Right..." As I turned to go I looked up at the two tall men, "you be careful now too gentleman. There are wolves in these woods." They nodded rigidly as I spun and began to skip off, giggling to myself. He asked the wrong question. I didn't give the dead fool a cookie. I gave him two.
