The messy senior year of high school where it's nearly impossible to keep track of who's screwing who. *** Soccer captains Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase are thrown together for a joint tournament - except that they can't stop fighting and for some reason also can't stop hooking up in the locker rooms. Piper McLean leads about a million school committees, is a self-proclaimed clean freak, and probably comes as close to "perfect" as anyone could get. Sure, she's a closeted bisexual but who cares, right? Then Jason Grace, who's moments away from being thrown off the soccer team for his abysmal English grades, becomes a peer mentee and maybe things aren't so bad after all. Frank Zhang's been dating his dream girl - she doesn't care that he looks like an overgrown baby or that he trips over his own feet far too often for a hockey player. The one catch; Hazel Levesque is too afraid to tell her parents that she's been seeing someone for six months. Down the road from the school, Leo Valdez is starting his engineering apprenticeship - which is great except for the noisy art students downstairs and a pretty girl who plays the harp far too loudly. Nico di Angelo's had a crush on senior Percy Jackson for...about as long as he can remember. He enlists one of the soccer players - Will Solace - to help him get Percy's attention and finally do what he's been too scared to do for three years.

And they lived happily ever after. At least, that's what Annabeth thought would happen when she married Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson was the epitome of perfect; cute smile, ruffled hair, beautiful eyes, charming, a good sense of humour, overtly respectful, a marine biologist who wasn't the most intelligent but worked harder than anyone she knew. They met in a grocery store when they both reached for the same cereal box. If you searched up "husband material", pictures of Percy would show up. But there was one problem; none of that explained why Annabeth simply wasn't in love with him anymore. She cocked her head to the side, gazed at her husband, and couldn't summon a shred of excitement. There was no easy way to put it; after five years of marriage, Annabeth was completely and utterly bored. There were too many awkward silences, too much tension, and neither of them could even be bothered to fight. That is, until Percy begins acting weirdly, and then they don't seem to have any problem in that department. Light is shed upon aspects of Percy's past and Annabeth realises that the man she married isn't who she thought he was at all. Thrust into the path of danger and a realm of uncertainty, Annabeth finds herself unable to let go of the man she once considered the love of her life despite everything telling her that she should. A story of rediscovery and proving that falling in love the second time is even better than the first.
