"Mi cah fuck uh Riri," he said while pulling away from our heated kiss. Why? Was it because we're bestfriends? "Why not?" I breathed out heavily as he cupped my cheeks and rested his forehead on mine. He didn't answer me. "Gio?" I whispered his name. He pulled away and released me from his hold. "Yah virgin and mi wid fuck uh kill uh," he said darkly. Chills ran down my spine as he stared down at me.

Iyana McKinney didn't come from a rich family. She grew up with her sickly grandmother in a run down apartment building until her grandmother died just after she graduated college and even though they didn't have much, her grandmother made the sacrifice for her to finish high school and get a higher education even in her sick state. She had always had it hard even with a rich bestfriend who would do anything for her but she had learned while growing up to work hard for what she wanted so no one could use what they had done for her to control her so she always took the hard way out.

These are my thoughts in verses, the heaviness of depression and anxiety lie on me. It is uncensored; it is raw; it is who I am, the darkness that overshadows my mind. I present it to you both shyly and aspiring that there are, perhaps, others who feel the same. Anxiety and depression are not light loads to carry, and if you have any memories evoked by these words, I am sorry. However, I suppose that this darkness should be shared; that telling our stories is the only redemptive way. And there is mine, a little ray of my soul dressed in poetry. May it serve as a reminder that you are not alone in your journey, and that there is always hope, even in the darkest of moments.
