Katniss Everdeen is a 20 year old girl that has some strong feelings for her best friend. When he comes back home after a mission overseas, she decides to tell him about her feelings. Peeta Mellark is a 20 year old guy who is a soldier in the Army. He's deeply in love with his best friend, and wants to tell her, and decides to do so, when he arrives home. What happens when Peeta get a callback and has to leave again? How does Katniss cope? And most importantly, will Peeta arrive home alive again?

My name is Katniss Everdeen. I am eighteen years old. I survived The Hunger Games twice. Peeta was hijacked. He was rescued and he's fighting to return to his old self. I led the revolution that led to the fall of President Snow. Snow. Snow is dead. Coin is dead. Boggs is dead. Finnick is dead. Prim is dead. Everyone is dead and it's my fault. It's my fault. __ Even though the Hunger Games are gone, reduced to the hauntingly horrifying memory of those who took place in it, the demons of Katniss Everdeen's past loom over her, with her wherever she goes. Though she will learn to cope with her losses with the help of Peeta Mellark, whom she holds closely to her heart. When our eyes met, the memories all came rushing back. From throwing her the bread to saying goodbye at the Lightening Tree to the red plaid dress on the first day of Kindergarten. I remembered it all so much clearer, the shiny memories seemed to fade to so much dimmer terrors. But she's nearly dead. How can I convince her to go on, that life is still worth living. How can I reignite the fire that burns in the eyes of Katniss Everdeen, the girl who was on fire, without getting burned in the process. (My second After Mockingjay story.
