After the loss of his wife, Elliot has to deal with raising his daughter. Not only was she grew up, but she was also growing up without her mother. Now that Elliot is finally home from the Navy, he has to jump in head first into life as a father and a widower.

Olivia thought that Elliot would only be the person she could love silently, not hers. But then after his wife killed herself, and Olivia was hurt in ways she never wanted to be hurt, they got back together. Through raising Elliot's daughter, and adopting twins they managed to make his life and her life, into their life. And adding a baby of their own to the mix helped just a bit.

Olivia tried her hardest for years to not fall in love with Elliot. But in the end, she couldn't help it. But he was taken. Newly remarried and expecting a baby, Elliot's 27-year-old wife was someone he didn't expect to be with. Olivia wanted to be the one that Elliot loved, but he seemed to be in love with the life he was starting with his wife.
