Shasta and Ergon were said to have the best of relationships. Alpha and beta, joint leaders of a peaceful pack living in the north mountains. But was the rumour true?

If a black hole is not a hole, then what is it? At least it's not a type of hole one can trip and fall into.

These are two couplets and two quatrains I wrote while thinking of my own personal experiences with nature.

It is said that when Ramses II was pharaoh, Moses, a character from the Exodus story in the bible, led 600,000 Israelite men, women, children, and elders out of the slavery which had lasted for more than four hundred centuries. Did he save the Israelites by leading them through a "miraculous" parting of the Red Sea to give them just enough time to escape before the waves came crashing down on the Egyptian army who were trying to catch and destroy them? The question is, did this astounding event truly happen? The Red Sea "miracle" was not just an incredible story which some believe it to be, because there is scientific evidence it occured.

Silence had a color. It was black, the darkest shade of black enveloping the forest, filling every crag and furrow and silencing even the loudest birds, driving them to sleep in their nests woven ever-so-carefully with many a straw or a twig.
