"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a deep voice speaks up, rougher than usual with sleep. My fingers wrap around the handle of the kitchen knife as I spin around, holding the blade out before me. A man with dark hair and striking blue eyes, eyes that are startlingly familiar, sits at the kitchen table. He lounges in his chair, legs stretched out before him and hair mussed in a way that is irritatingly attractive. His eyes are hard, cup of what must be coffee forgotten on the table.
