She splits off from the crew and sails with Charles, Flint catches up to his daughter in Nassau she escapes again with Flint at gunpoint, she and Vane retreat to an island hoping not to be caught, but their luck runs out and once again Flint is there and this time makes sure they won't see each other again. An unlikely courtship begins to blossom between Flint's daughter and Long John Silver, but before anything serious can happen Vane rescues her but with a price and together they evade her father all over again.

A calm focus washed over me as I stalked through the night with death at my heels. Death followed wherever I went, it was all I had ever known. He yelped and attempted to leap out of his chair but only managed to stumble back into it and cause it to slide back, scraping the floor loud enough to draw everyone's attention. "I'll pay it back-."
