The City of Flames is an important location on Earth-F, connected to many heroes of the golden age. Right from the start, thousands of years before Christ, the warrior Lamas of the City of Flames have led the fight against the forces of darkness trying to break through to Earth from the Realm Beyond (otherwise known as The Fourth Dimension or The Shadowlands). And while there would be no magic or powers without that realm beyond, and while benevolent creatures do exist, the origin of evil starts there. And the line holds on Earth. If the mystic communities related to the City fail, We all die! This anthology will present chronological stories from the hidden civilization that exists in a pocket dimension attached to Tibet, and to all those heroes of the ages connected to Earth's greatest defense. From Utnapishtim (the First refugee) to Gilgamesh, Samson, Hercules and others to the legendary Wu Deha, through to the great champions of the 20th and 21st century such as Wonderman, The Flame, Yarko, Zanzibar and Illuso, these tales of heroism from myself and writers such as @NightElfLady @KV_Wilson and others, will unfold a tapestry, both here and in separate serials.

Episode 1: The Case of the Missing Shells (complete) February, 1942. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor has drawn the United States into World War Two. Democracy and freedom hang in the balance as the Allies struggle to halt the Japanese advance across the Pacific. In Los Angeles, master sleuth Doctor Fung and his sidekick Dan Barrister are asked to investigate an apparent case of sabotage at an ammunition factory. It seems simple - almost too simple to be worth the time of such legendary detectives. But Dan and the Doctor soon discover a much larger and more sinister criminal scheme is in play... Episode 2: The Case of the Missing Spy (complete) March 1942. Doctor Fung and Dan Barrister are summoned to a mysterious meeting in New York City, and travel across the USA on a luxurious train. They hope for an uneventful journey, but the forces of evil never rest. An FBI agent seeks the help of Dan and the Doctor in catching a suspected German spy. But perhaps the agent - and the spy - are not who they seem. And who - or what - lurks in the room next to Dan and the Doctor, casting fear into the hearts of any who dare approach? The Case of the Missing Submariners (complete) (This isn't part of the main arc, and so can be read independently.) November 1927. Dan Barrister's father tells Dan how he met Doctor Fung on board a German submarine in the final days of World War One. Doctor Fung and Dan Barrister are part of the Fox Universe, a shared setting created by Jason Greenfield and based on comic books published in the 1930s and 1940s by Fox Features Syndicate. The cover illustration is by Ram Wilson, with colour additions by Rusty Gilligan.

The Central book of the Fox Universe/Earth-F. Alice the Immortal and The Eagle Ascends - set in the present day of Earth-f (based on the public domain comic book universe Fox Features, which was active 1939-1950's). Stories taking place from 1939 to present day. Alice just wants to be left alone to enjoy her immortal life (900 years+) but on Earth-F, following the Anti-Vigilante act of 2002, being 'special' puts a target on your back. As Alice deals with her accumulated guilt and neurosis, how much longer can Alice slide under the radar, before THEY notice and come after her! The Eagle is the last hero standing - a man who refuses to give up and is determined to find out what happened to the lost science hero community. You can beat him, you can stab him him, you can shoot him, but you CAN'T break him! Can one man, even one with an iron will, make a difference in the authoritarian United States of the present day? Especially when every time he puts on his costume, he puts a target on his back! And that's without dealing with the trauma and memory losses that make his past fuzzy, including how a young man in his early/mid twenties can remember fighting in the second world war, but nothing between 1948 and waking up in the desert several years earlier.

February 1942 - Just over two months have passed since Zanzibar the Magician faced the Sorceress of Zoom and demanded to be reverted to a man. The attempt had failed, the Sorceress escaped, and Zanzibar (now having adopted the name Zee) remained in the body of a woman. With America now having joined the war and the Japanese Imperial Army relishing victory after victory, times are looking bleak in the world. But, Zanzibar/Zee's worries are still closer to home. While two colleagues have received the magician's new form without bias, concerns remain about others' acceptance. Focusing her energies on helping the now sonic-empowered Banshee come to terms with his transformation, Zee still keeps her own problem secret. She continues to help the police fighting crime but does it through a proxy - telegrams - enabling her to advise on cases, by pretending she is still the man authorities know. She receives a communiqué from Captain Bill Johnson of the NYPD, stating a case has been closed, but Zee senses something untoward, something dark, ominous. To follow up on her hunch, she is forced to leave her sanctuary and face the public. But that's not all - bigger worries loom as Zee finds her magic has a tendency to 'leak' without invocation.

The year - 1941. The world is at war, Pearl Harbor has been bombed and conscription is enforced for the fourth time in American history. But, over New York, another 'unworldly' conflict has also been waged - one which is a direct result of an escapee from the Fourth Dimension arriving in Earth's atmosphere; The Sorceress of Zoom. This war requires special forces from factions such as The Syndicate of the Weird and The Mystery Men; Science-heroes. They fight valiantly although many casualties result from the Sorceress' merciless attacks. Finally, having survived the battle, The Syndicate of The Weird, just got weirder. In an attempt to deflect one of the Sorceress' malevolent transformation spells from hitting a fellow Syndicate member, Zanzibar the Magician finds himself victim; altered - into a woman. In an era when homosexuality and androgyny are not only frowned upon but also penalised, Zanzibar must come to grips with this life-changing conversion. Not only that but will his powers be affected as well? Improved or impoverished? Can he find a way to reverse the spell? And how will the collaboration with fellow science-heroes fare from now on?
