When Harry was little, he hated living in Oak Hollow. It was a stuck-up neighborhood in the suburbs full of broken families and white picket fences. But then, on a hot Summer day, a strange boy wearing heart-shaped sunglasses moves in across the street.

They had to pull back for air. Louis surveyed the guy's face, in awe of his blown pupils and sharp jawline, the way their shared spit glistened on his lips. "Hi," he breathed. He blinked, and came back to himself a little bit, blushing at his own boldness. "Sorry. Is this okay?" The stranger removed his right hand from the curve of Louis' waist in order to cup his jaw, tilting it up to the angle he desired. He pressed their lips together, murmuring, "Definitely." And then he kissed harder. (When Louis sees his ex-boyfriend kissing a random girl at a party, he acts out of blind jealousy. He kisses the first guy he can find. It turns into a thing.) Louis is a spirit animal, he goes from owner to owner, each one he changes to a different animal based on the owners' spirit animal, Louis' last owners spirit animal was a hedgehog, sadly they passed on and now Louis is stuck in the form of a small defenseless hedgehog. Harry finds him one day on the verge of death and claims him as his new owner but Louis doesn't know why his spirit animal won't change to a new animal but it does change to something new.

When Harry meets his new roommates, he is immediately captivated by one of them. But what happens when he discovers Louis' dark, bloody secret? And will Louis be able to handle his blood thirst?
