Asta is an orphan at the church of Hage Village in the Forsaken Realm of the Clover Kingdom. But what no one knows is that he is the son of a female demon and a human with strange magic. Asta has inherited his mother's ability to summon creatures called 'grimm' and his father's magic, called magic armory. Asta's father was a treasure hunter who went into dungeons to find magic items. Asta is thought to not have magic, but during the grimoire ceremony, a grimoire came to him and two scrolls to go with it, which unleashes his magic. The scrolls turn out to be what was left of his parent's grimoires, they both used a spell to seal their spells into the scrolls and when Asta gains his grimoire, the scrolls react and mesh with his grimoire, giving him his parents' magic and items.

Asta has always been treated poorly in Hage only because he couldn't use magic. And it was even worse because the one he was found with at the church had enormous mana compared to him. Yuno was praised while Asta was left with humiliation. Filled with anger and hate for everyone, Asta finally received his Grimoire; the Five-Leaf Clover Grimoire. Follow Asta on his downward spiral into darkness. Will his friends in the Black Bulls be able to show Asta the light, or will his humanity become lost forever?

Asta never received a Grimoire or any powers. To Yuno this marks the end of their rivalry, but Asta wouldn't be Asta if he didn't try to make it big anyway.
