Skylar pressed the telephone receiver to his ear much harder than necessary. From across the office, Harper - Detective Smith - waited with bated breath. Beside her, Zap - Detective Farrow - crossed her fingers and her toes. "Good news, good news, good news," she muttered. Suddenly, Skylar groaned, slamming the phone down. "We've got another one," he relayed through gritting teeth. "Fucking gods." Harper resisted the urge to throw the very important papers stacked before her. "We have a serial offender on our hands, don't we?" Skylar grimaced, affirming the thought. "First Master, maybe I'll get lucky and be the next victim." - 🔍 - "Tally it up!" Ally exclaimed, slamming the door to their shared office open with a wide smile. "That's another one for me, which means-" She gestured at the chalkboard of tally marks with excited jazz hands. Morro sighed as he pushed himself up from his desk. "You're ahead," he finished dejectedly. "Catch up, old man." The boy narrowed his eyes over his shoulder, chalk now in hand. "We're the same age." Ally waved him off as she collapsed into her chair, admiring her work represented by the numerous tally marks accumulating under her name. "We should tell boss-man we're ready for more! With that, he struck another tally on the board.
