Peter has only had these powers for 6 months. It changed a lot of things about him. But after he got back from his trip with Tony Stark during the civil war of the avengers, things changed for the worse. He met you, and realized that being spider man put you, and other people he loved in danger. Now he's faced with the choice of giving up on spider man, or continuing knowing that it could hurt the ones he loves. You, on the other hand, have had it pretty weird yourself. You've always lived in New York, so you definitely saw the alien invasion when you were 7. During that invasion you were hit by a mysterious blast of foreign space substance.
