Max has lived a hard life, and can't take any more abuse, so when camp is close to its end, David got rather suspicious that something might be going on with max. Max refuses to tell David, and in doing so goes back with his abusive family. Max then decides to leave his family after a painful beating he had received. He then runs away to find David. It's the end of camp, and David decides to take in Max after he notices how terrible his parents are. Of course his parents were willing to give him up for nothing. When David brings Max home, he thinks it's going to be amazing, but it's not all he thought it would be. For both of them, this whole new situation is new. David has never been a dad, and Max has never had someone who showed as much attention as David is doing. Both of them are overwhelmed and stressed out about every thing going on. Of course, Max tries to keep to himself and David tries to help no matter what. Maybe they will both realize how to help each other and might become the family Max needed and David wanted all along.
