Underneath that wide grin of his reveals a dark devil lurking in the marrow of his bones. Well, if he was alive, that is. His soul inherited the innocent Blueberry and slowly took over as time trudged on. On.. and on... And on. Behind those gleaming blue eyes that everyone thinks they're seeing is a psycho urging to wake up from its slumber and walk its path once again. "It's just an illusion, isn't it, brother?"

Sans is a comedian, telling puns and playing pranks is part of who he is. Or is it? Resets, his parents deaths, and bringing up his brother alone has all taken its toll on the pun loving skeleton sending him into a spiralling depression. His comic front is becoming harder to uphold against the wear of time, only to be worsened by a total lack of sleep and a new threat in the underground , but will his brother ever discover ... Pacifist. Neutral. Genocide. SAVE. LOAD. RESET. Over, and over again. Living through an endless loop has started to take its toll on Sans. Eventually, he just doesn't care anymore. It's the same routine, scripted as if it were some endless book, a never ending cycle. Becoming withdrawn is one thing, depression is another.. Thoughts of suicide is when things get out of hand. Especially when people start to notice. So after monsters finally make it to the surface, they get a little worried for their skeletal friend. Too bad it'll just repeat again... Right? Finally, after all these resets, it appears they finally got their "happy" ending. However, not all of them feel the same way. Flowey and Sans are the two left who remember what happened, and they are filled with resentment. Just the knowledge of the resets can be nearly maddening. However, Sans keeps his smile. But one day, he realizes... He doesn't want to be Mr. Nice Guy anymore.

Ever since the barrier was broken and monsters rose to the surface once more, it seemed like despite the odd reception that they received from the Humans of Ebott, everything was starting to take a turn for the better. But almost a year later, the others couldn't help but notice something different...specifically...SANS was different. The usual laid-back, wise-cracking skeleton was acting...strange. His smile was forced, he didn't tell jokes, he's deprived of sleep, and the demons that were thought to have been put to bed ages ago keep rising back to the surface to torment him. It was no secret anymore. Something was wrong...VERY wrong...but what? This decision haunts him, even years after his suit of armor is stocked away and hidden, after his quaint life of depression, puns and resets are set to loop forever, and his part in the war is forgotten... But then, the barrier is broken. And it is quickly realized that this is not the end, but a beginning of something new. When you reach the End, when you get us out of here for the umpteenth time, I don't care if you reset or not. Just don't tell anyone about it, and... Please don't go homicidal again, okay?" Frisk smiled meekly, and nodded. "I can do that. And don't worry about the reset." They gave Sans a small hug. "After that whole thing with Chara, there won't be any more." And with the final word, they opened the door to leave; before exiting they paused. "See you later."
