"No, Hiccup, I'm not," She sounded choked up. The last time Astrid sounded that upset was when they were eight right before she burst into tears. He hated seeing her like this. "Hiccup I'm really sorry..."
"Sorry for what Astrid? What's wrong? What's going on?" Hiccup bombarded her with questions.
"I..." she let out a rough sigh and looked away from him. "We can't be friends anymore Hiccup..." it was like a punch in the gut. She didn't mean this. She couldn't.
"You don't mean that Astrid," she didn't look at him. "You can't,"
"I do mean it Hiccup," it sounded like she had started to cry.
"What happened to always being best friends? What happened to that? We both made a promise,"
"Well I broke it. Goodbye Hiccup..." but she didn't move. It was obvious he was the one that was supposed to leave. He whispered goodbye as he left. She never turned around.
As he was walking toward the cove with tears in his eyes, he couldn't let the village think of him as even more weak then he already was, he heard a thump and a loud cry from the clearing that he knew was Astrid's.
He didn't understand why. After all, she was the one who broke off their friendship. It still hurt him to hear it though. He didn't think he had ever heard her that broken before.
