Betas are the second in command in werewolf culture, right after the alpha. They are stronger than other wolves, faster, smarter, and loyal. Beta's are like a best friend to the alpha, and maybe even to the whole pack. They don't hold all the power, but enough power that makes them closer yet farther from the pack. When an alpha dies or is out of commission, the beta takes over - unless there is already an heir - then the beta helps the new alphas. And betas, are typically male. Just not Beta Saiph Vera. (Warning: lots of blood and violence) Just a FYI: This is one of my first books and I'm still working on perfecting my craft, so sorry if the plot is too fast or too slow and if the dialogue is really awkward.
