'The chosen one will know his path and the one outcast will turn black as the night sky,' Hickorykit is outcast by all around him because he was born with only three legs, his fourth being only a round stump. The only times he's noticed it's when his brother laughs at his strange habits, like muttering to himself, being easily destracted and sobbing in his sleep. But inside, Hickorypaw is breaking, maddening, rotting, dying. His schizophrena threatens him with a black cat with a glowing red eye and glowing red scars across his chest. Rowankit hated his brother from the moment he was born. The three-legged cat didn't deserve anything, couldn't do anything, wasn't worth anything. RiverClan agrees with him, and treats Hickorypaw like dirt, like a bug, like a disease.

Violetkit was never one to settle down. Someone of her age was expected to fall in with normal Clan life without another care in the world. But no. From Violetpaw to Violetslash she only wanted to be leader and often considered unfair shortcuts. Her restless ambition is briefly put to sleep when she falls for her new apprentice, but an objective like leadership couldn't stay trapped inside of her forever. As a lost, abandoned kit, Mountain no longer has a purpose. She just wanders around the place until she finds herself on a beautiful moorland, and is discovered by the strange cats called WindClan. Given her stubborn potential, Brickstar appoints her Violetslash as a mentor, who as she trains with, wins her heart. But of course Violetslash was evil, and prophecies don't allow relationships between the good and the bad, so what can she do?

Two moons after her sister's death, Shadowclaw begins to have dreams. StarClan has told her to kill the loner who poises a threat to her Clan, and Shadowclaw vows that she will. But Shadowclaw finds it hard to keep the pledge, as her heart tugs towards him. She knows what she must do, but how can she stop love? Cover drawn and edited by my sister.

Ashwing has been untrusted since kithood, and soon proves those who doubt her right. As she becomes a valuable warrior, ambition fills her heart and hatred clouds her judgement. She sets out to be ShadowClan's next leader...no matter what the cost. Bigwing watches Ashwing grow up, sympathetic towards the lonely, bullied kit. She tries to become friends with her, but all her feelings of sadness vanish when she overhears Ashwing's plots of murder. She soon has to choose between loyalty to her Clan, and to her heart. She can't have both...or can she? Pepper is a rogue who faces no end of trouble. First his mother abandons him, then his father doesn't lift a paw when his brother's being killed by a fox. He moves into ShadowClan territory but is chased off by an angry patrol, though instead of anger he feels only awe. A paticular cat stands out in the party, and he and Bigwing become mates. Pepper is unaware of the threats that Bigwing faces in ShadowClan, seeing nothing wrong with their relationship.

'The light of day and the darkness of night will destroy this Clan if not destroyed. Darkness will spread to day, but the amber feather will win' Dandelionkit becomes best friends with Starpaw, a warrior apprentice. They share every secret...except one. As Dandelionpaw has her warrior training, shadows and monsters pull her off target, and she has no option but to become a medicine cat. Enviously, she watches Starflame recieve her warrior name, wishing that her dreams would stop distracting her. The demons pull her into their world, and she is blinded by fear and anger. She can go along with their plans, or let them haunt her forever.

Amberkit wants to become a medicine cat when she's a kit, but when she is apprenticed, a killer arises. Amberpaw has figured out who it is, but soon gets distracted by Stonestar, the leader of SkyClan. She receives her medicine cat name, still without revealing the murderer's identity. Amberfeather knows what she must do, but she can't bring herself to do it.
