Merlin botched up a spell he was working on. He decided to make a potion without the help of Giaus. Messing up the pronunciation of one word and a healing potion becomes a truth syrum. Three days of nothing but the truth. Any question he's asked, the truth will come out. "What are you hiding from me?" No matter how hard Merlin tried, he couldn't stop his voice from speaking. I had to make a judgement call on whether we’re dealing with Yule or Christmas in this Merlin verse. I went with Yule (there was reasoning, but I won’t bore you with it). Chapter beginnings taken from Doubt Comes In, by Anais Mitchell, from my favourite album this year Hadestown (it’s a folk opera about Orpheus and Eurydice - so that’s the very definition of not for everyone but its weird and creepy and awesome)
