Plutonian (adj.): "of, relating to, or characteristic of Pluto or the lower world" ~Merriam Webster Dictionary On February 18, 1930, Pluto was discovered and classified as a planet. It was considered the smallest planet in the solar system, but it was still enough to be a planet. If something as small as Pluto could be considered a planet among the eight other planets in the solar system and hold a title that will allow it to be remembered for generations to come, then surely it can be representative of the people with the smallest and quietest voices who walk among giants. It can remind us that those voices and people are just as important and worthy of being remembered. On August 24, 2006, Pluto was demoted to the status of "dwarf planet" for not being big enough to "clear the neighborhood around its orbit". For this, Pluto may eventually fade out of the memories of future generations, or few would care to remember its existence unless they are fanatical enough about science and astronomy to retain the names and information of at least a couple of objects outside of the main planets that are taught to kids in schools. But the people who felt a connection with the planet, the people who the planet represents, will not fade away with it too. Our voices are important. Our voices matter. This is for the quiet ones, the shy ones, the ones who feel small. This is for the forgotten ones who wish to stand tall. This is for the ones shoved into the shadows of the past.
