"But your parents don't like having you out of the house..." Logan took a moment to look me up and down. The tears on my face, the bags that were by my feet, the sudden phone call at midnight. "Patton, were you kicked out?" he asked, I slowly shook my head. "Are you trying to run away?" He asked again, this time I slowly nodded. He sighed and opened his car door. "I can't just leave you all alone. I know how your family is, you can stay with me for awhile and everything will be fine." He buckled my seatbelt for me took m bags and put them in the trunk, and then came back to kiss my forehead. "I promise."

Day in and day out, Patton spent all his time helping his family sell what little they could harvest in order to make money to scrape by.
