A work in progress dark esoteric fantasy story inspired by eastern European and central Asian culture and mythology, written from the perspective of the advisor to a king of a falling nation struggling with religious division, modernization, and internal intrigue.

In the city of the new north, an aimless warrior finds purpose in battling for glory, content in violence and conflict. The old north emerges again, hoping to reclaim its own lost glory. Abhorred are the lords at their display. The old shall reclaim them all.

15 year old Alex was on his way to Literature class, when he heard running behind him. When he turned around, his smile turned into a look of pure fear as his senses took control of him, narrowly escaping the horde of ravenous beasts he once knew as his peers. But he wasn't the only one who went through this. On the other side of the school was Olivia among others spread out in this outbreak. This virus turns people into monsters. Unrecognisable monsters. Alex thought this was only possible in fiction, but he turns out to be really, really, wrong.
