THE GIRL WITH THE TAPE RECORDER
A Story of Pain, Faith, Loss, Resilience, and Finding My Voice
By Bolanle Abidemi Okunlola
Because the tape recorder is no longer just an object.
It becomes the thread that ties together the little girl, the grieving woman, and the storyteller she eventually becomes. 🎙️📖🤍🫶✨
Author's Note
This book was not written to accuse, shame, or drag anyone.
It was not written to reopen old wounds, point fingers, or seek sympathy.
It was written because healing sometimes requires us to tell the truth about where we have been, who we have loved, what we have lost, and how we survived.
The stories in these pages are told through the eyes of a little girl who grew into a woman while carrying grief, love, disappointment, hope, faith, and forgiveness all at once. Like many lives, the people in this story are neither entirely good nor entirely bad. They are simply human.
I have chosen to tell this story not because I want to remain in the past, but because I no longer want the past to remain inside me.
My prayer is that these pages will serve as a testimony of God's grace, a journey toward healing, and a reminder that survival itself is a form of courage.
To those who loved me, supported me, and stood beside me during the different seasons of my life, thank you.
To those who hurt me, knowingly or unknowingly, I choose forgiveness, peace, and distance where necessary.
And to the little girl I once was-the girl with the tape recorder who dreamed of being heard-this book is for you.
May we all learn, unlearn, relearn, heal, grow, and move forward with grace.
