Because that was exactly what she was.

Adrien Agreste has a complicated realationship with his father, Gabriel Agreste, Paris's reowned fashion designer. Of course, things only get more complicated when Adrien discovers that his father is a super villain. Two years into the future, Marinette *dumps* Adrien to be with Cat Noir and move on with her life. ---------- After spending a year in New York, Adrien has finally returned back to Paris to find Marinette with a displaced life. Marinette doubts Adrien will ever be able to love her, so she finally decides to tell Adrien the truth. When a mysterious villain shows up and drains their power, how will they react when they finally uncover the other's identity? How will Marinette react when she learns the pain of her future?

When Adrien's feelings for Kagami and Ladybug become conflicted, he considers giving up on Ladybug. But then she comes to him- as Adrien- saying that she's been in love with him for awhile now. Unfortunately, it's too dangerous for them to be together until Hawk Moth is defeated, which is one of the reasons why Ladybug and Cat Noir have to work extra hard to take him down.

Marinette can't stop thinking about what happened when Chat Noir becomes Chat Blanc. Worried about reapeating the future she takes the dangerous path to to prevent it. Her self sacrifice and heroism however will lead to a darker path and only Chat Noir can save her.
