4 év telt el a Roxfort ostroma óta, és elmondható, hogy Hermione Granger változott a legtöbbet ez idő alatt. Egyik reggel egy hotelszobában ébred, és szinte tisztán emlékszik, hogy mi minden történt előtte este, arra azonban nem, hogy ki volt vele. Azonban ez a valaki nem egy idegen, főleg nem akkortól amikor feltűnik Hermione lakásán, hogy visszaadja amit otthagyott. És itt fordul fel mindkettőjük élete... - FORDÍTÁS - Az újonnan iskolaelső Hermione Granger visszatér Roxfortba, hogy befejezze a végzős éveit Harry és Ron nélkül. Lelkesen vár egy stresszmentes évre, de a boldogsága teljesen összeomlik, amikor Draco Malfoyt is iskolaelsővé teszik. Tudja, hogy Draco-t a múltja fájdalmas emlékei kínozzák, de a fiú eltökélt, hogy elrejtse azokat.
