Camila Cabello is a 28 year old on a small "adventure' to Milan. Unfortunately, her phone died and she's desperate for a phone to borrow to call for a taxi. When 27 year old Shawn Mendes offers his phone in exchange for her to be his fake girlfriend in order to keep his parents out of his business, it creates a newborn love between the two.

Camila was on a steady, comfortable relationship or so she thought until Shawn, her new coworker, made his way into her life and things with her long-term boyfriend didn't seem as good and fun anymore. Was her relationship actually boring and going to nowhere, or was Shawn just trying to mess with her head? And what could he possibly get out of it?

Camila and her boyfriend of nine years, Zachary, just got a new neighbor: an athletic, tall, documentary-loving musician. Camila doesn't trust her new neighbor, but when she finds herself in a sticky situation she may find that she doesn't have much of a choice. Shawn is new to the neighborhood. As a struggling musician, he often finds himself jumping from city to city. When he landed in Miami, he expected to spend the majority of his time partying and chasing girls. Little did he know he'd learn more about himself in this city than he ever thought possible.

Shawn looked up at me. He did a double-take, and soon enough his cheeks were reddening and a smirk spread across his face. "What?" I asked him, worrying that I put my shirt on inside out or something else to embarrass myself. He shook his head. "Please don't hate me..." he laughed, his face reddening even more. I looked at him, confusion clear on my face. "I think maybe you should go look in the mirror," he said as he continued to chuckle. Curious as to what he was talking about, I quickly ran over to the full-body mirror that stood in the corner of my room. My jaw dropped upon seeing the red and purple marks that peppered my neck and chest. I turned around and glared at him as he laughed and shyly covered his face with the duvet. "Please don't hate me!"
