Sorella Divaan - the second and youngest daughter of Keir - was born for one reason: to fulfill an alliance. She's used to being quiet and invisible, lest she incur the wrath of her father. And at seventeen years old she is sold off in an arranged marriage to the heir to the Autumn Court, Eris Vanserra.
She's heard grim tales about her new husband, but as she gets to know the male behind the mask, Sorella discovers that sometimes the things you didn't choose are the things you come to treasure the most.

"Worried about me, sunshine?" he smirked, and the arrogance of it was so at odds with his tender touches.
"Yes." I didn't deny it. I said exactly what I thought. "Yes, Eris Vanserra. I worry about you when you're not right here with me, and I'll sure as hell worry about you when you go off to literal war."
All arrogance fell away and in its place was an affection I never expected to see when I first married this male out of threats and obligation.
He swallowed. "Damnit, Sorella. How is it you made me care so much about someone other than myself?"
"I didn't. You have always cared about everyone so damn much and hide it behind indifference and cruelty and sly schemes so others won't know how big your heart truly is."
Eris reached up and cradled the back of my head with his hand, then brought his forehead to mine. "You have me all figured out, don't you?"
I sucked in a breath. Our mouths were so close. Too close and not close enough.
"Like you said, I'm very observant," I said hoarsely. My voice had never sounded like that before, but Eris had this way of making me be bold, different, and more...myself.
Deep in my chest, somewhere in my very soul, that little flame kicked to life and flared hotter with each too-fast beat of my heart. Eris's pupils expanded, the black almost completely swallowing the burning amber.
