Everyone around him had always told him that he couldn't do it, that he was weak, worthless, or not worth the time, but he never gave up, because he had made a promise to himself, a promise to his mother that he would become a hero. Of course he didn't remember this promise, but thats what you get when you supress half the memories you have from your early childhood in order to keep your sanity. But those memories can't stay buried forever, and when they start to resurface, Izuku's mind is almost as much of a warzone as the outside world is.
