A story being written for Open Novella Contest 2025

In a dystopian alternate Earth in which omegas face discrimination and oppression, omega Jonah Merrick is hiding in plain sight as a private investigator. He's also demisexual taking heat suppressants to hide from the ten Houses and their oppressive regime. Until a murder of one of his clients brings him into contact with the strangest alpha he's ever met, a detective named Isme Gallagher with a shadow past. The two forge an instant connection in a complicated story of consent, abuse and the darkness we try to hide from ourselves. This is a very rough draft that I am posting as I go. I will try to catch any proofreading issues and continuity errors, but I can't promise anything exciting. This is also a very dark paranormal romance with a fox shifter omega and a non-shifter alpha. I'd describe it as spicy but with lots of emotional angst. It's got hurt/comfort galore and an age gap (28 and 41). It features lots of knotting, scenting, mpreg, explicit scenes of cutting and self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse (in the past, not between the two MMCs), dubcon and issues of consent. In many ways, most of my stories could find their way into some brand of fantasy. These are stories written for fun and sometimes contests. The first story, The Dragon's Hoard, is a humorous tale of a demon, the narrator, helping her dragon friend Brim declutter his overfilled cave. When the mountain is stormed, they must find a way to deal with both the clutter and the invaders, or the C.O.A. (Cave Owner's Association) will fine and evict Brim from his cave. The second story is presumably the same narrator as in the Dragon's Hoard, but at a different time.
