Immediantly after the Great Calamity was brought to an end, the hylian champion Link had gone into hiding to avoid the questions on everyone around him. After a month in solitude, Link begins to feel trapped and eventually planned out a way to take his own life. However, the day of his final plans, the Princess calls him to the castle for an emergency, having discovered something truly horrific lying within the catacombs of the Castle.
