Sixteen-year-old Kason Mills has never really been wanted. He's been passed around like baggage, from the mother he tried to save from her own battles with addiction and mental illness, to relatives who couldn't handle his outbursts, to group homes that labeled him "too much." When his mom dies, Kason finds himself once again without a place to land and a heart full of anger he can't seem to control. Armed with a duffel bag, a few broken memories, and a diagnosis list longer than his future looks, Kason is sent to live with his mom's identical sister, who can't stand who he looks like, and cousins who wish he'd stayed gone. Between his ADHD, impulsivity, and defiance, Kason's never been the kid anyone chooses to keep. But maybe ... just maybe...there's still room in the world for someone like him and allows him to believe he is still worth love, even if he feels broken..

Elizabeth Grey is eleven, diabetic, and invisible in her own home. Her mother is cold, obsessed with wealth and status, and barely notices when Elizabeth skips meals or comes home pale and shaking. Her only comfort is a worn stuffed bird and the quiet corners she hides in at school-until even that safety starts to slip away. When her mother announces she's marrying a powerful man named Ethan Kingston, Elizabeth is forced into a new home with four unfamiliar boys and a father who rules with silence. She doesn't know what's worse: being alone... or being seen for the first time.
