Aang has always had a knack for getting in odd situations. This situation on the other hand, he had no control over. The situation in question, is sitting the hospital with thyroid cancer. They said it's non fatal and is rare. That doesn't mean he isn't worried for his overall health. All Aang has to do is stay in the hospital for three weeks. After that he should be fine.
