After major coastal cities sink to the bottom of the ocean at the end of the twenty-first century, the richest inhabitants of Earth escape the planet to build new colonies in a distant solar system. Thirty six light years away from the Milky Way galaxy, centuries have passed and humanity is well established. Among the most notable establishments is a prestigious university for the study of alien biology. Moira, a girl with a pervasive developmental disorder, but a talented student nonetheless, navigates the challenge of interplanetary university life as she researches a rare and endangered species. When a deeper threat emerges that challenges the existence of these creatures, she must team up with her classmates and find a solution to a problem much bigger than they could ever hope to be. ***** Credits: The cover is courtesy of the brilliant @vertigo_moon from The Vertigo Graphics while the line editing/proofreading/grammar check was done with a lot of input from Halyn Bleiz a.k.a vin_elend from the Floret community and Katie Marie from the Coven of Bookworms community. They have my gratitude. The blurb was written with some help from @RowanCarver and I am thankful for her feedbacks.

"Him. We need him." "Are you sure boss?" "I'm sure. Tell the soldier, he has a new mission." "Y-Yes" ***************************************************** "Help me" the words barely made it out of his lips, a pathetic choking sound retching from his throat at the attempt of rebellion on his captor. A sympathetic look came from the man who the winter spider thoughts name was 'tony'. "I wanna help you buddy, but I can't do that if I can't come close to you." He half joked. Buddy? A tugging in his mind was telling him not to trust him, but there was something else. A blind sense of trust for the man that was urging him to accept Tony's help. No. He's not your friend. You don't know him. Kill him. . . . Or they'll kill you. ***************************************************** "You were never to complete that mission. We just had to make it look like you were. You see, we have a better way of destroying the avengers, something worse than death. All we need, is to lure them here." He smirked, looking the winter spider straight in the eye. "But how?" "We have the perfect bait." "We do?" The boy asked, tilting his head slightly, childishly." "We do." . . . . . . . . . "You" ***************************************************** Just a heads up for those that have read my oneshots book, u can start at chapter 4, or just re-read if you'd like I honestly don't care but yea. A possible future in less than 500 words, if plastic wins. This was my entry for the WattPad/National Geographic #PlanetOrPlastic competition back in late 2018. It reached their Top 10 Submissions which, given that there appeared to be well over 5000 entries, was a very pleasant surprise! The competition itself had a limit of 500 words so, for those who keep asking if I intend continuing the story, the answer (for now!) is no - unless I can find a very good reason for adding any more. Many thanks to everyone reading and voting on this story and getting it to number 1 in the #sciencefiction category in May/June 2020! I did try to thank the voters individually on their pages but Wattpad have a daily limit on the number of times I'm allowed to do that and there are now too many of you (not that I'm complaining)! Here's the top 10 submissions page: https://www.wattpad.com/list/738243473-planetorplastic-top-10-submissions If you want to read the story in Polish please head over to https://www.wattpad.com/story/236405960-m%C4%85dro%C5%9B%C4%87-staro%C5%BCytnych-t%C5%82umaczenie-pl where @juliatlumaczy has done a fine job - thank you, Julia! @juliatlumaczy has now sent me a version of the cover she used for her Polish translation - thanks again, Julia! @alex_sokolova has also translated the story into Russian as well. You can read that here: https://www.wattpad.com/976002417-мудрость-древних - many thanks, Alex! We now have a third translation! @AlfonsoLucassen has kindly translated it into Spanish and you can find it here: https://www.wattpad.com/1063634347-la-sabidur%C3%ADa-de-los-antiguos
