"Kacchan" Deku said and I sighed "What Deku?" I asked "I won't be here tomorrow and I need you to do something for me-" "If you think I'm gonna fucking do anything f-" "Kacchan..please.." Deku said looking at me and I noticed the bags under his eyes and how exhausted he looked I was taken back by this. He looked genuinely drained I gave a surprised yet sympathetic look. Deku chuckled "I know.. I look terrible.." he said "Todoroki might hate me for telling you this but I need to tell someone.." Deku continued I stayed silent as I listened. "His scar, Todoroki's that is" "Yeah?" I questioned "He has PTSD.. and when something triggers him he goes to the locker room to get away from everyone" Deku said "What triggers him" I asked "A variety of things honestly" Deku said "But I need you to watch him for me tomorrow..." (Sample): I opened my eyes, waiting for the transformation to happen. Less than three seconds later, the change occurred. The transformation never ceased to amaze me and as I watched it, I remembered the times when the water was salty instead of clean, house water. Oh yeah, you still don't know who I am. Well, I'll give you a little summary. My name is Aquarina, Aqua for short. I just moved to Dallas, Texas from a little town called Fort Myers in Florida. I will be a junior in high school this year. Oh and let's just say I'm not your average 17 year old girl. I mean I dress like a normal girl, minus the face cake of makeup and the heels.(Yeah, sorry. I don't do high heels. I only go for 1-inch heels if anything.) I listen to normal music and I talk like everyone else. Normal American accent. I also have a phone, computer, laptop, and all those other electronic necessities. I don't have any mental issues. I was born like any normal baby. Well, that's not entirely true. I am anything but normal or average. You see, my DNA is different. No, I'm not a werewolf. Or vampire, fairy, wizard, witch, or ghost. When my skin comes in contact with water, I change. My eyes and hair change. My eyes become a clear silver and my hair a solid blue, lighter than navy but darker than aqua, sorta like the Crayola color. I get a tail for feet and my scales are the color of my eyes. So now you think "Scales? Like a fish or something?" Actually that is half true. I'm half fish and half human. Yup, that's right. I'm a mermaid. That's not all of it. My family are as well. (End of Sample):

Sixteen-year-old Mara Westray has just lost her mother, and now, being shipped off to live with the father she doesn’t know is not how she imagined grieving. She’s already counting down the days until she turns eighteen and can leave the tiny island of Swans Landing. But from the moment she steps off the ferry, nothing is as ordinary as it looks. Whispers of a haunting song on the wind make her see impossible things, and she isn’t sure she can trust her judgment about what is real and what isn’t anymore. Maybe she can’t even trust her judgment about quiet Josh Canavan, whose way of speaking in riddles and half-truths only confuses her more, luring her deeper into the secrets hidden beneath the ocean’s surface. As she tries to unravel the events that led to her mom fleeing the island sixteen years ago, Mara finds that the biggest secret of all is only the beginning.
