A small paved road in Diagon Alley leads to Potter's Herbs and Misc., where Remus Lupin buys his (surprise, surprise!) herbs and miscellaneous wizarding supplies every weekend. Only one day, he's met with a rather vexatious surprise of cigarette smoke and dreamy grey eyes waiting for him by the name of Sirius Orion Black.

The instinct not to breathe underwater is so strong that it overcomes the agony of running out of air. No matter how desperate you are, you won't inhale until you're on the verge of losing consciounsness. Sirius knew that. He stood there, staring down to the black, cold water and pondering, would it be easier just to jump. He was on the edge, not just of the quay but of his own mind and sanity. The fall wouldn't kill him. The waves would. ... This is a Remus x Sirius Hogwarts years fanfiction I started writing a while back, in wich Sirius struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. Remus tries his best to be there for his best friend, but his state of mind isn't the healthiest either. Contains triggering stuff, please don't read if you know you can't put up with stuff like ABUSE, SUICIDE, strong language or VIOLENCE. Also, all of this is based on the characters of the Harry Potter series. The cover picture is from tumblr and I added the name of this fic on it, so I do not own it. All of this is written by me, partly based on some of the events from my own life and suicidal thoughts I've had a long time ago, so please don't copy the storyline as it's partly very personal. The Marauders are starting their fifth year at Hogwarts; Remus is starting with a massive scar across his face - a byproduct of the increasing severity of his furry little problem, which is a definite cause for concern despite his insistence that it it's fine. Sirius is starting with the memories of a certain morning at 12 Grimmauld Place in August: memories that he might not ever forget, yet is desperate to cloak underneath the facade that every is fine at home and that he and his parents just sometimes encounter minor disagreements. James is starting his fifth year, yes, but more importantly, he is starting phase five of his plan to woo Lily Evans: somehow his friends seem doubtful that he might succeed, but James, being James, is in no lack of confidence. And Peter, well, Peter is starting to wonder just why he puts up with these people, and if he should really be feeling sorry for Lily Evans, and maybe if he should have asked to have been sorted into Hufflepuff.

Despite his monthly issue, Remus couldn't complain about much. He has two parents who love him dearly, two best mates he can count on for anything, and a girlfriend of roughly 6 years who adores him. Everything in his life is perfect. Isn't it? But the picture perfect life of Remus Lupin is just that. An image of who he is supposed to be. Not who he is. The cookie cutter world he has always known comes crumbling down when he befriends Sirius Black. Remus must decide if he wants to remain in the safety of his world, or to live in a world with Sirius Black. A life with no control. *only 2 mature parts*

sirius black, self proclaimed rebel with messy hair, went to university wanted to make masterpieces. to paint, to make art, to create beautiful things. his parents, however, went against this, sending phone calls and letters that were far from shy of getting the point across, leading sirius to stray away from his goals. remus lupin, renowned for drinking black coffee and sarcastic comments, went to university for the same exact reasons. his parents allowed him to follow his, letting him keep his hands covered in paint and possibly dabbling in the stick n poke tattoo talent on himself. and after remus finds out about a portrait that he has to paint for his portfolio, he has to find someone aside from his friend peter (who won't sit still for anything), and he happens to find a certain young man willing to sit still for his final grade (as long as his friend james can get his number across to remus' friend, lily.)
