Dean Winchester is nineteen years old and only a year out of high school when he gets sent to the hospital after a argument with his father. Nothing serious occurred, but Dean was required to spend the next few days under observation. While he is spending his time in the hospital of utter boredom, he meets Castiel, a young man the same age as him as a patient of cancer. Forming a quick bond, he begins visiting the boy even when he gets out, but is something more going on?

Their father has hardly been in their lives, his job as a drug dealer requiring him to disappear for long periods of time and causing them to move around a lot. But when their dad finally gets arrested, a man named Bobby Singer takes the boys in and enrolls them in a more permanent school. And as if his father's incident wasn't hard enough on him, Dean begins to question his sexuality when he meets quiet, introverted, and (he must admit) quite cute Castiel.

Dean has a past nobody knows about. He's broken. Everybody believe they know everything about Castiel. But they don't. Castiel has more secrets than he should, keeping up his popular punk boy reputation. Dean hates the Novak's. So Castiel doesn't tell him he's a part of the family. But if there's one thing Dean hates more than the Novak's, is a liar.

The Novaks move in next door to the Winchesters and old history comes up, including why Sam doesn't speak, why Lucifer lost his full rid and why the Novaks never stay in thr same place for long.

Dean and Cas become really close friends, but what happens when Cas finds out Dean's big secret?

Dean is the king of high school, the jock, star football player, the guy who picks fights with whoever looks at him funny. Castiel is a nerd, shy. He never goes out, has very few friends. When Cas moves to the city and starts getting bullied, will Dean come to the rescue. Will they fall for each other or will it fall apart?

Dean loved how Castiel practically melted into his hands. He loved being above him and scooping him up via Castiel's lower back and feeling how he draped like cloth. And how feeling his panting breaths on his skin feels like the warmest comfort. Liked placing his hands on Castiel's hips and feeling his hands on his shoulders and arms even if he dug his nails into him. Relish at how aggressive Castiel was at times: pulling on Dean's hair, gripping and digging, the absolute vulgarity he would utter into Dean's reddening ears, the forceful pulls and pushes, how despite being the one taking it he was the one in control. Cas, Dean, and Sam have been hunting together and splitting off to take smaller jobs. The story starts with the three of them on three separate hunts. Cas is human and wounded. He shows up at Dean's motel in need of help. What proceeds is the two of them meeting up with Sam and going on an involved hunt, over the course of which Dean and Cas slowly figure out their feelings for each other. Lots of awkwardness (in a good way), some mild angst, comfort, and eventually fluff and smut.

Dean and Castiel are just starting to be comfortable with their feelings for each other when John and Mary come back from the dead. Dean struggles with his internalized homophobia, brought out by his father. Cas struggles to not boil John's organs. *AU where Amara brings back both Mary and John at the end of season 11.
