Buck is spiraling, he knows he is. "Spiral up," his therapist had been telling him. Yeah, sure, he could totally do that from his current position circling the drain. Or, TK, Carlos, and the rest of the 126 are in LA for a first responders convention where they get a chance to reunite with the 118 family. TK needs a coffee, Buck needs a hug, and everyone else really needs for TK and Buck to not get into trouble for once. Nobody wins. ‼️⚠️not my work all credit goes to dancer_me on AO3⚠️‼️

Because apparently there aren't enough tsunami fics out there.... What would've happened if Bobby had let Buck back to work before the tsunami? What would've happened if Christopher's school had taken a field trip to the pier that day anyways? Because let's face it, no matter what changes are made to the timeline, Buck, Eddie, and Chris will always be brought back to the tsunami, one way or another. I promise no MCD Tw: tsunami, graphic depictions of violence, death/dying, anything you'd expect during a large natural disaster.

They weren't bad people, just bad parents. God, he hated when Maddie said that, he hated even more hearing it parroted back through Chimney's mouth, and he especially hated the revelation of what had been dubbed the "deep dark Buckley family secret." But then again, how much could he really be upset with Maddie for holding onto a family secret, especially when he was still holding onto his own.

He gestured to the envelope in a 'go on' fashion, and that seemed to break Eddie out of whatever stupor he was in. With one last confused and concerned look at him Eddie reached down and scooped up the envelope taking out the papers and reading through their contents. "I don't understand." Eddie said after seemingly having read through the papers at least three times. "C'mon Eds," Buck huffed out a mirthless chuckle, "I know that you know what a deployment issue looks like."
