In a world where 80% of the population have some uncanny ability, or a quirk, the rise of professional heroes has significantly increased over the years. When a young girl with a beautifully terrifying quirk that makes people hallucinate their biggest fears is in an accident with her father, she promises both her late pro-hero father, along with herself, that she would become an amazing pro-hero to fill the space her father left. With this, she also promises herself that she doesn't need friends to fulfill this task, as no one had ever stuck close to her after finding out what her quirk did. The class of 1-A doesn't quite agree, much to Mikutori's dismay and irritation. She just couldn't understand how any of them would even bother talking to a girl with a villainous quirk like hers. But when she gets into the number one hero course at the best school in the world, U.A. High School, and meets an equally-cold hero-prodigy with half-white and half-red hair, will she change her mind, and allow someone past her walls? Will she finally make a friend after eleven years of self-prescribed solitude? Mikutori Kumosora can't be so sure. "Why did you pick me up?" I asked again, Shinso pulled the car over somewhere I didn't recognize. We were in the middle of no where, nothing but fields around for as far as the eye could see. "Are you going to kill me and dump my body in a ditch?" I asked, exaggerating my tone in faux fear. "Maybe," Shinso shrugged as he took the keys out of the ignition, swinging the lanyard around his hand. "Or maybe, I took you here to tell you that, maybe, you're not completely repulsive." Harper Rye can, to put it simply, read minds. It's not something she consciously does. Her quirk simply allows her to pick up people's thoughts, regardless of whether she wants to or not. The fact that she can't turn it off makes having such a power nearly unbearable. To make matters worse, she's somehow managed to fall under the radar of the super-genius principal of UA high, Nezu. He's sure there's a traitor amongst them, and is convinced Harper is the key to finding them and shutting them down. Plunged into a world she never wanted to be in, Harper finds herself on the fast track to becoming a hero, maybe managing to make some friends for once in her life, and quite possibly saving Japan from near-certain destruction.
