Shuichi didn't realise the sudden spill of salty tears that ran down his cheeks. He wasn't a liar. Was he?

!phantom thief au! !lowercase intended! kokichi is a famous thief, stealing the greatest treasures with the help of his 'evil' organisation; dice. he says evil, but that's not the case at all. what started off as fun little pranks in the city turned to massive heists happening every friday. at this point, the heists were a source of entertainment to dice, especially for kokichi. he loved to tease the detective that chased him through every hall of the heist. the most entertaining piece of all would definitely be the edge of the night, end of the heist. that would be when he got some alone time with shuichi. when they were no longer running, but standing right in front of each other. shuichi always had the chance to catch him right then and there, but he never did. he talked to the thief instead, like he hadn't just stole thousands and thousands worth of jewellery, art, etc. that was the most entertaining part of it all. when he had a chance to talk to his beloved detective. every friday night, "farewell, my detective." "farewell, my phantom thief." it went like that. but what happens when one day, shuichi find himself at a starbucks with a particularly cute face working there. kokichi.

The idea that you buy people to do whatever you please with them didn't settle well with Shuichi. So in order to really find out what life was like behind the scene, he had to get one himself. He had to buy himself a partner. But never in a thousand years did he picture himself actually falling for him.
