Tinnies were only considered pets or slaves (depending on who you ask) untill about 7 years before present days where buying tinnies became illegal. However it wasn't illegal to own one if you already did. There is a giant illegal tinny black market as a result, and since tinnies are so small it's not uncommon that tinnies that were born free get abducted. For reference you were born free.
