What would happen if Lindsay came back in season 8 (I don't own any of the characters, it's just a fanfiction novel)

Five years into her job as an FBI Agent at the New York City Field Office, she is called upon by her father about a reappearance of her past. Packing a bag, she made her way back to Chicago in hopes to finalize the hunt for the criminal who continues to haunt her. Living on her own her whole life until he took her in, she never knew what it was like to ask for help. Independence was her thing. Weakness and fear wasn't. While helping out with the case, close to closing it, she comes face to face with the ghost of her life, threatening her sanity. What will happen when she needs to finally ask for help and confide in someone, will her walls higher or lower, or will it be too late to change her ways.

Erin was raised by the sergeant of the Chicago Police Department. After barely living on the streets as a teen, she was forced to turn her life around. After ending up in a situation she can't seem to get out of, her fathers unit is determined to figure out what was going on in their city. While under protective custody by her fathers unit, she got to know him...the guy who gave her second chances at not just happiness but love.

Only a few months after Erin left Chicago on Voight's suggestion when the Ivory Tower threatened to take her badge, and after the showdown with Bunny; she receives some life changing news and suddenly finds herself needing home, and her family to get through it.

It was just another normal day until she received a call that flushed her with regrets... When a tragedy occurred back in Chicago, 790.5 miles away in New York, Erin Lindsay receives a call that nobody wants to receive. Upon receiving the call, she immediately rushed to catch the next flight back home to Chicago, trying to keep her emotions at bay. Awaiting back at home is the unit that she has called family for years, who still misses the presence of the petite, badass brunette. When she arrives in Chicago, she quickly realizes how bad the situation is. As she navigates and maneuvers herself through the tragedy and dealing with it, she continues to hide the biggest secret - a secret she has kept all these years. How will the tragedy affect all their lives? Will she finally spill the secret or continue to hide it? What does the future look like for Erin Lindsay? Lindsay and Halstead have been seeing each other for a while. Maybe they wanna bring it to the next level and tell Hank? What happens when one gets hurt? Does the other tell Hank or let it go? You all know Through the Lives my first story well here it is how it was planned in the beginning without Lacie and Lane and Isaiah and everything else. So I hope you enjoy this version of it.
