Stranded with no communications in a remote sector, the crew divide as Team Riker and Team Picard face off against one another for control of the ship. Without computer records, they spend two weeks trying to piece together their lives. It leads to some unusual pairings - platonically, romantically, and antagonistically. But first he needs to rescue Dr. McCoy from his addiction to Dreamtax, a powerful hallucinogen that's about to end the doctor's life. An earlier version of RESET was a finalist for the Star Trek Strange New Worlds II anthology, but didn't make the final cut.
