My smile drops. "I'm sorry, Max, my flight leaves Thursday morning." Disappointed, I shrug in an attempt to play it casual. "It's okay," I say softly, and she scrunches her nose at the pet name. "But tell me the truth, would you have come if you were staying longer?" She smiles widely and I mimic her. "Depends, would you continue acting like an asshole?" I chuckle. I know she will never let that go, and weirdly it brings me joy because that means that she will never forget the day we met. And I don't want her to forget it because it is forged forever in my mind. I am bound by that day, but if I am bound, she should be too. I want us to be bound forever by that day. "Maybe.
