In the hidden town of Nowhere, Louisiana hides a secret. A secret that's been guarded closely since the founders - a group of rebel slaves possessing the juju - had created the town from the burning ashes of their master's plantation. The secret that's been closely guarded for hundreds of years? A god lives there and protects the town. The rules of the god's blessing are simple: stay within the town's borders and nothing can harm you, never leave the town's magical border, one person in each generation must always give up their magic to re-strengthen the town's barrier, and the most important: never tell an outsider the secret. Fast-forward a few centuries and Lavender Fletch, a descendant of one of the original slaves, is chosen to give up her magic in service to the god. Across the street, Indigo Byrd, moves in. 12 years ago his sister and Lavender's best friend, Violet, disappeared. He enlists Lavender's help in uncovering what really happened all those years ago. Blocked by the townsmen at every turn, they must rely on each other if they are going to find out the truth and escape with their love and their lives intact. Will Lavender give up her powers to the god? Will Indigo ever find out what happened to his little sister? Will they both be killed before they admit that they want each other? And perhaps the most important question, what does the god want with them both?

"I wanted to give this to you in person," Anubis said, taking a step closer to the girl who was evidently petrified. He handed her a crisp white envelope that had his name written in a cursive scrawl. With shaky hands, Zaina took the envelope. Not knowing what to do, she performed an awkward curtsy which was met with a hearty laugh from the god. He lifted her chin with a finger and grinned that heart-stopping grin once more. Anubis trailed the finger up her jaw and laid it beneath her ear. "I'll see you around," he whispered, ghosting his lips over the shell of her ear. He stood up and walked away as though he had not made a long lasting impact on the young girl before him. After taking a few breaths to calm herself, Zaina opened the envelope. Four African-American witches on the run from a Warlock detective, a jilted lover, and a ridiculous super clingy cat named Mister Purr. *** It's Mardi Gras weekend in New Orleans, and instead of celebrating with deep-fried beignets and dancing, Yanni finds herself in a dark alley with her three 'sisters'-staring down at a lifeless body. Shocked and scared, they realize something's off about this death. The body is twisted in a way that's not normal, and Yanni can't shake the feeling that dark magic is involved. With one sister panicking, another making sarcastic comments, and the eldest sister, Aunt BeeBee, trying to stay calm, Yanni's life takes a turn she never expected. The dead man's identity remains a mystery, and the sisters know one thing for sure: they can't let anyone find out. The four of them are witches, each representing one of the four elements, bound by magic and a sisterhood. But when it comes to covering up a murder, will they stick together or fall apart? Yanni's got a big decision to make. Will she go along with Aunt BeeBee's plan to cover it up, or will she risk everything to do what's right? With Mardi Gras chaos swirling around them, the sisters' bond is tested as they navigate dark magic, secrets, and their own fears. One thing's for sure-nothing in New Orleans will ever be the same.
