He didn't realize that he could be happy fantasizing about being in a relationship with his best friend. He also didn't realize that the relationship was a lot more than a fantasy of his.

They put their past behind them and look towards a new - hopefully more normal - future. Without a killer clown chasing after the group, their lives get some sort of normalcy.
