In a world where humanity faces the threat of the Abyssal fleet which has taken over the seas, shedding humanity in its wake and killing thousands, special human girls who don weaponized outfits and possess the spirit of historical naval vessels known as Fleet Girls are the only ones capable of countering them. The Fleet Girls live together at a naval base, where they spend their everyday lives as they train for battle. Samidare, a Shiratsuyu class Destroyer, and cursed with unbelievable "clumsiness", was assigned at the Southern Naval District where she meet the other girls. What she does not know was, the Southern Naval District was the least inactive District in terms of combat against Abyssals. With just only 1 Admiral to barely keep the District running, the said Admiral was often judged as a 'delinquent' and 'irresponsible' due to his heavy drinking. The tale of the Blue haired fleet girl started in a single "clumsy" step.

2018. The Abyssals emerged onto the scene with not a care in the world for the lives that were lost. 2020. Japan responds to an S.O.S. From an American fleet battling the Abyssals in the bay of San Francisco. It is now 2022. Japan has offered other countries the chance to come and start their own Ship Girl fleets.
