Before they became legends, they were children. Xaden Riorson and Iskra Eagledare grew up side by side beneath the mountains of Tyrrendor - best friends, partners in trouble, and the first person the other always looked for in a crowded room. Then the world ended. When the rebellion falls, and their parents are executed before their eyes, an entire generation of children is forced to inherit a war they never asked for. Branded by dragonfire and marked by loss, they must learn to survive in a kingdom determined to break them. But some things refuse to die. Not loyalty. Not hope. And not the bond between two people who chose each other long before they understood what love was. From childhood promises and stolen moments to rebellion, war, and destiny, this is the story of the generation that came before the revolution - and the love that survived it. Because the rebellion didn't die with their parents. It lived on in their children.

Alina Valoria once believed in the goodness of the world-believed in friendship, in faith, and in a future filled with warmth and safety. She believed in him too-the boy she was never meant to love, her brother's best friend, the one her heart chose long before she understood the cost. But war has a way of turning belief into ash. When war and tragedy tore her from her family and the boy she loved, Alina learned how merciless the world could be. How a heart can shatter quietly and still be forced to carry on. How someone raised to shine with hope can be remade by grief and survival. She vowed never to depend on anyone but herself again. Entering the Riders Quadrant to honor her family's legacy, Alina expected hardship, loss, and the brutal truth of war. What she didn't expect was to face everything she once mourned as if it had died-alive again, altered by war, and no longer the people she remembers. Time and battle carve new versions of us, and not all of them survive with their humanity intact. Least of all the boy she once loved. Within a kingdom trembling under ancient prophecies and the truth of fables, Alina finds herself caught between duty, faith, and a fate whispered about since before she was born. Here, loyalty can ruin, love can destroy, and belief is a dangerous thing to hold. As the gods turn their gaze back to the mortal world, Alina must decide which pieces of herself she is willing to sacrifice-and what she will fight to protect, even against destiny itself. This is a story of war, faith, and forbidden love-of a girl hardened by fate and a boy forged by loss, bound to a prophecy that could save their world... or end it.

Katrina Rosen is in her third year at Basgiath War college. Forced into the Riders Quadrant because of who her parents were, she's braved the Parapet, Threshing, and the assassination attempts on her life because of the Relic that swirls around her arm. She's had her 2 best friends, Garrick and Xaden by her side the entire time, but while everyone seems to always be looking at Xaden, Katrina's eyes have always lingered on Garrick. He's the only one who's ever seen her cry, the one she always hugs a little tighter than everyone else, and the one of two people outside of leadership that knows about her classified signet. The only thing keeping her from making a move is her friendship with him and her desire not to mess it up. Garrick Tavis is also in his third year at Basgiath. Like Katrina, he's had both her and Xaden by his side. The relics that swirl around their arms and their powerful signets have made the trio a prime target at the war college. While he's close to both Xaden and Katrina, it's always been Katrina, who he calls Kate, that he's turned to first when he's overwhelmed. Kate has always been his safe haven and he doubts the she even knows that. As time goes on while they're in Basgiath, Garrick has started noticing how his stomach flutters whenever Kate walks into a room and the way that his breathing becomes shaky whenever she gives him one of her extra tight hugs. He doesn't know when these feelings for his purple haired best friend started to develop, but he's convinced that she doesn't feel the same way. Garrick Tavis x OC

Danielle Draken has suffered more than a person should. After being marked, surviving with the demons in her head, and having feelings she definitely shouldn't, she's finally headed to Basgiath, along with Xaden and Garrick. The three of them-as the eldest Tyrrish marked children-must prove themselves at the infamous War College, even though most of the people there are only trying to sabotage their paths. Danielle and Xaden both have taken the responsibility of the marked ones, leading to the two of them having to stone their place in Navarre. Danielle's had a crush on him for more than a decade, but she knows he doesn't see her in that way, or does she? But she has a deep secret-the darkest among many-she's not who she says she is. She has more to hide than the entire ocean, and she's surprisingly good at that because, like her father always said, she always gets what she wants. There's parts of her that even she's not aware of, and as she goes through her journey in Navarre, she finds out more and more about herself. He loved Violet Sorrengail. But when he meets Aria Hale ... a Dragonblood with impossible power and a pull he can't explain ... everything shifts. She's his mentor. She's forbidden. And if he's not careful... she'll be his downfall. Born a Dragon Blood - Aria Hale is a rare and legendary descendant of ancient dragon riders whose magic flows deeper than human blood - she stands apart from every cadet, rider, and even wingleader at Basgiath War College. Her connection to dragons isn't merely a bond; it's a living force coursing through her veins. Gifted with three signets instead of one, she has so far awakened two: the power to forge unbreakable mind-to-mind bonds with anyone she chooses, and the ability to heal others, though never herself. Her third signet remains an enigma, a dormant power waiting to be claimed. When Xaden Riorson transfers to her post after graduating, she is assigned a usual task: to train him. Her approach is firm yet kind, her presence commanding but gentle - a stark contrast to the cold rivalries that define Basgiath. As she pushes Xaden to sharpen his speed, master his own signet, and survive the brutal games riders face, he can't help but notice the strength and warmth she carries. Separated from Violet Sorrengail, the love of his life, Xaden finds himself drawn to her in ways he never expected - intrigued by the mystery of the Dragon Blood, and challenged by the quiet power she wields. But beyond personal desires, Xaden also sees her as a key player in the Venin Revolution efforts - a powerful asset whose unique gifts could tip the scales in a war that will decide the fate of kingdoms.
