The real world skins you alive. It's a hazard of growing up in rural Suffolk... or possibly, it's a hazard of growing up. Either way, the Dorian Andrade and Isaiah Matalon who reunite at a party in Oxford have become equally disenchanted imitations of the boys who used to spend summers eating apples on the riverbank. A lot has changed in the six years since they saw each other. One thing is still the same: the longing for each other's company. But aren't the objects of our yearning so much easier to encounter in the imagination than when they're standing in front of us? What do you do when you're given a second chance at life? *** Age 15: Oliver Sallow is shipped to the tiny town of Blissby to live with a new foster family. Finn O'Connell is captain of the football team. Neither of them knows much about the other except for one thing: they have absolutely nothing in common. Age 17: Oliver finds Finn having a panic attack in the library bathroom. They still have nothing in common. They fall in love all the same. Age 18: Oliver breaks up with Finn. Age 18.5: Oliver dies in a motorcycle accident. Six minutes and twenty-four seconds later, he wakes up again to be offered a deal: he will get to spend another twelve months as a guardian angel, neither fully dead nor completely alive. The catch: the person he is assigned to help is none other than Finn O'Connell. Age 19: Two boys, fourteen months of history, and a promise: this time, there can be no falling back in love. Being forced to move so many states away from all that he once knew, Nessa was nervous to tackle his new life. Nessa tried his best to do as they said, but sometimes he couldn't help but glance over his shoulder. Those eyes that so many people deemed beautiful, they were always searching for a specific shadow in the dark. In the day-to-day trenches of high school, it is almost the default-setting to believe we are the main character of our own coming-of-age story. This is not wrong. It's just ours isn't the only story there is. The jocks, the nerds, the cheerleaders, the losers, the stoners, the fangirls, the skaters. Everyone's the realest most important person in existence, all of them, at the same time, first-person narrators to their own stories, stumbling into each other's plot lines, defying the status-quo, catalysts to ups and downs. A deconstruction of all the high school tropes and cliches written over the years, a deep-dive into the psyche of students trying to finish high school while going through irrevocable self-discovery, the most improbable of connections, and the insufferable pains of growing up.

The human heart is an abyss. Through tunnels, and chambers, the organ beats and the world, in each persons life, continues to churn. With that heart, life is a reality. But, every so often, exceptions have to be made. Every so often a heart breaks, truly breaks, and all the pieces of life and reality become a haze. That heart is beating, but only sustaining. There is only one cure, one remedy- one antidote. That is love. ... There is nothing like the search for the perfect story. For Josephine Taylor, head journalist in a bustling Seattle magazine, where jobs are fought, not won, Aidan Hughes is that story...the story that will combine both truth and intrigue. Plagued by tragedy, the handsome photographer has secluded himself to a remote town, denying anyone who seeks to exploit him. For Josephine, Aidan Hughes is a jackpot of mystery, the perfect subject to propel her career into it's highest form. Like all the others, he intends to send her away. But, when a storm blows in, trapping them in his family estate, concessions will be made... Deep, dark secrets will be revealed... And unwilling hearts will be touched.
