You ,Cap, and Bucky go way back, like 1940s way back. After a run in with Hydra you were experimented on and frozen. Before SHIELD fell you were found in storage by Peggy. Nick vowed to find a way to awaken you with out killing you. Well that time has come and you are awakened in a new time.
