After getting into a fight with one and other, Kokichi and Shuichi were forced to live together. Little did they know, this punishment given to them would be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Legally selling your mind, body, and talent would offer you up as a personal puppet to the hands of the government. Since the world had gone to despair, the world suffers from heavy mental disorders that result in many terrorists and suicides. As their saving grace, Danganronpa serves as a last ditch effort to give the people a reason to live. As the world revolves around danganronpa, it circles around its characters just as much. Meaning their commitment is crucial. And if there is any set backs, any wrong turns, someone's heart might just stop. What a happy accident.

Surrounding the world of children was a place of lush grass, Innocence laughs and giggles of youth, open gates and sun rays that would shine without condition. The small feet of the new generation would run across the face of the planet's floor freely. Until the gates of an air crushing society captured the will of every living being. Dragging them into cages called their home, being attached with robots to aide them in simple life actions. The future generation fizzled into a broken cry that used to be a beautiful song. Now, five years later, Shuichi Saihara struggles to grasp his will to live under the suppressive ways of the new world. The cookie-cutter nation engulfed his hope. Now, the only relief that greats him is in his dreams. Where his childhood memories whisper secrets of wishing for freedom and innocence to run as loose as a river. He feels on the verge of mental collapse until he meets a boy to spark a fight in him. And perhaps a love, to match his good-willed heart of deliverance and dedication.

The idea that you buy people to do whatever you please with them didn't settle well with Shuichi. So in order to really find out what life was like behind the scene, he had to get one himself. He had to buy himself a partner. But never in a thousand years did he picture himself actually falling for him.
